Can Botox Help With Cancer?

Can Botox help with cancer? It sounds crazy at first, but research says that it’s not such a crazy idea after all. Here’s what studies are saying about the efficacy of Botox for treating cancer.

Can Botox Help With Cancer? What Do the Studies Say?

Botox is, obviously, not the cure for cancer. However, studies are showing that this wrinkle-reducing injectable may slow the growth of stomach tumors by using botulinum toxin to disrupt and block the communication between nerve signals and cancer stem cells.

There is still plenty of research to be done, specifically in humans. So far, this research has only been performed on mice.

The research has determined that not only might Botox slow the otherwise rapid growth rate of stomach tumors, but that this injectable boosts chemotherapy as well by making the cancer cells more vulnerable and more responsive to treatment.

Should I Consider Using Botox While Facing a Cancer Diagnosis?

Botox and its benefits for cancer, specifically stomach cancer, are still being studied. That being said, evidence is promising. Human testing is to begin in Norway soon, revealing the effects of Botox in stomach cancer in humans.

This research will shine a light on a whole new path for safe and effective stomach cancer treatment, offering patients additional options and higher efficacy during chemotherapy due to denervation. This technique is currently focused on early-stage tumors.

So, while it’s not exactly advised to run straight to your nearest Botox clinic for cancer treatment, it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on in these following months and years to see if it becomes a common treatment option.
