Plastic surgeons seem magical. They can turn back the clock and give their patients the youthful looks of yesteryear.

Now, these doctors will try to predict the future and share what they think will be the top aesthetic treatments of the new year.

Made to Order In-Office Treatments

Cosmetic work is more unique than ever, says New York dermatologist Doris Day, MD. “It’s not about selling a brand for doctors anymore,” she continues. “We’re seeing a lot more lasers and treatments being used together for a signature outcome.”

Reducing Lines Before They Are Visible

New York dermatologist David E. Bank, MD, cites neurotoxins as all the rage these days. “People are not waiting for lines to form before they start,” he says.

“Patients in their 20s and 30s are getting treated before the lines are apparent.”

Non-Surgical Work

Miami plastic surgeon Sean Simon, MD, doesn’t see the trend of non-surgical procedures ending.

He says: “From body sculpting to fat melting, innovations in noninvasive procedures will continue to offer patients a multitude of options for self-improvement.”

Bacteria-Laden Skin Care

Dr. Bank recommends a unique kind of skin product, namely probiotic skin products.

“These products promote growth of healthy bacteria in the skin and help to maintain the natural skin flora.”

Micro-Botox or Baby Botox

New York dermatologist Dr. Debbie Palmer is looking across the pond for new year trends.

Micro-Botox is injected more superficially than a normal Botox treatment,” she says. “This technique has become very popular in Europe.”

Operating-Room Abs

Dr. Bank notes the rise in “high-def liposuction. “It consists,” he says, “of traditional liposuction, but with additional contouring around muscle groups to enhance the appearance of the muscles.

It delivers the appearance of a six pack without spending all your free time in the gym.”

Relying on Our Own Bodies for Enhanced Results

Plastic surgeon James C. Marotta, MD, says, “that 2018 will be all about stimulating our own cells to naturally reverse some of the signs of aging.”

He explains: “This can be done with microfiller injections, fat transfer at the time of a blepharoplasty or facelift for an uptick in collagen building, cell growth and better hair health when injected into the scalp.”

Non-Surgical Nose Jobs

Non-surgical nose jobs really picked up in popularity towards the end of 2017.

Dr. Bank adds: “Fillers can be used to subtly improve the shape of the nose, it is less-expensive than traditional rhinoplasty.”

The Threads

Dr. Day finds the practice of lifting the face and body with threads is here to stay.

“Threads work well because they stimulate collagen,” she says.

Vaginal Rejuvenation

Dr. Bank saw a huge spike in interest of vaginal rejuvenation last year.

“It’s accomplished through the use of lasers that help tighten skin by stimulating collagen,” he says.

A Move Away From Just the Face

Dr. Day predicts a shift from only treating the face to more areas like legs and arms.

“A few years ago, women were barely wearing sleeveless tops; they’re much more confident now,” she says.
