Wine After Botox

It’s tempting to pop the cork of your favorite vino to celebrate younger looking skin after Botox injections. However, you’re probably wondering can I drink wine after Botox? The short answer is no, you should not drink wine right before or after receiving cosmetic injections. Here’s why.

Avoid Wine After Botox Because You Bleed More Easily

People who consume alcohol before a procedure bleed more. This is never ideal for you or the person performing the procedure. For this reason, it is best to avoid consuming alcohol at least 24 hours before receiving Botox injections. However, it is preferable you avoid alcohol for about a week before your Botox.

Also, You Are More Likely To Bruise

Alcohol facilitates expansion of the blood vessels, which increases blood flow. Alcohol also causes fluid retention. These two things make it more likely for bruising and swelling to occur at injection sites. It is very hard to enjoy the maximum benefits of Botox with unnecessary bruising.

Alcohol Dehydrates Your Skin

Alcohol causes dry skin. When your skin is dry and dehydrated, it begins to crack. Dry, cracked skin decreases the effect of Botox, resulting in a longer journey towards more youthful skin.

Say No to Wine After Botox, Since You May Experience Side Effects

Botox injections may cause drowsiness and dizziness. Alcohol only makes these side effects worse. For this reason, it is best to avoid alcohol right after receiving Botox.

When Can I Drink Wine After Botox?

Most commonly, it is requested that you don’t drink wine or any alcohol for six hours after Botox. However, it is preferable that you don’t drink for two days after your injections, to be sure to avoid any unnecessary bruising.

How Many Units of Botox Do I Need in Gaithersburg MD?

Cosmetic Botox is an injectable cosmetic treatment used to relax and smooth the appearance of wrinkles on the face. To many, it is their dream procedure and is utilized to prevent signs of aging from appearing on their skin.

Newcomers might be worried however, about how many units they need for Botox to work for them.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox paralyzes the muscles in your face temporarily through botulinum toxin type A. Botox can be injected into the forehead between your eyes. Botox injections for the forehead are treatments to smooth horizontal lines and vertical wrinkles between the eyes. The injections work to relax the muscles that cause these wrinkles to form.

Even though the FDA recently approved the use of Botox in the forehead, practitioners are still cautious. That’s because, while Botox can be effective at smoothing wrinkles, it can cause too much muscle relaxation, resulting in drooping eyelids or uneven eyebrows. The injection being administered must be closely monitored.

So How Many Units Do I Need?

For horizontal forehead lines, practitioners can inject up to 15–30 units of Botox. For “11” lines between the eyes (or glabellar lines), up to 40 units are used. Currently, lateral canthal lines (crow’s feet) are the only other FDA-approved site for cosmetic Botox injections. Doses for the lateral eyes/crow’s feet are anywhere from six to 10 units per side.

Some practitioners say they inject an average of 10 to 30 units into the forehead. Your practitioner may start out with a low-unit dosage in each injection at first. They’ll give you a few weeks, usually one or two, to see how that dose works for you. You may then receive a few additional units. From there, your practitioner will have an idea of how many units you need at later visits.

Can Botox Help With Cancer?

Can Botox help with cancer? It sounds crazy at first, but research says that it’s not such a crazy idea after all. Here’s what studies are saying about the efficacy of Botox for treating cancer.

Can Botox Help With Cancer? What Do the Studies Say?

Botox is, obviously, not the cure for cancer. However, studies are showing that this wrinkle-reducing injectable may slow the growth of stomach tumors by using botulinum toxin to disrupt and block the communication between nerve signals and cancer stem cells.

There is still plenty of research to be done, specifically in humans. So far, this research has only been performed on mice.

The research has determined that not only might Botox slow the otherwise rapid growth rate of stomach tumors, but that this injectable boosts chemotherapy as well by making the cancer cells more vulnerable and more responsive to treatment.

Should I Consider Using Botox While Facing a Cancer Diagnosis?

Botox and its benefits for cancer, specifically stomach cancer, are still being studied. That being said, evidence is promising. Human testing is to begin in Norway soon, revealing the effects of Botox in stomach cancer in humans.

This research will shine a light on a whole new path for safe and effective stomach cancer treatment, offering patients additional options and higher efficacy during chemotherapy due to denervation. This technique is currently focused on early-stage tumors.

So, while it’s not exactly advised to run straight to your nearest Botox clinic for cancer treatment, it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on in these following months and years to see if it becomes a common treatment option.
